Homeowners in 2010 can claim both Federal and

State of Montana tax credits by replacing their old windows with new energy-efficient windows from Andy’s Glass. This means homeowners can save as much as 55% on their window purchase!

 

The Montana tax credit program differs from the Federal tax credit program. Here is what you need to know so you can take full advantage of both programs.

Qualifications—applies to both programs

·         Windows and exterior doors must be installed by December 31, 2010

·         U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient must be 0.30 or less

·         Submit tax credit claim with your taxes from the year that the windows and doors were installed

·         Retain sales receipt and manufacturer’s certification label, but do not submit them with tax return.

What’s Different?

·         Federal tax credit is 30% of purchase price, up to a maximum of $1500

·         Montana tax credit is 25% of purchase price, up to a maximum of $500 per person

 

·         Federal: cannot include installation costs

·         Montana: can include installation costs

 

·         Federal: applies to primary residence only

·         Montana: can include other buildings
